Privacy

There is no account, and nothing you read or keep ever leaves your phone. Two narrow things do go out: a report when the app breaks, and a coarse count of which screens get opened. Neither carries your name, an identifier, or a line of what you were reading, and the second one has an off switch. The rest of this page is the detail behind that.

The app

There is no account and no login. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to, and no password for anybody to lose. We do not know who you are, and there is no place in the app where you could tell us.

Everything you do stays on your phone. The verses ship inside the app itself, so it does not fetch them and there is no record anywhere of which one you read. Your shelf, your collections, your reminder time, your theme and your language are stored on the device and in the app's own storage area.

The app makes one request over the internet, and it only downloads. It fetches a single small settings file from our server. That file exists so that a verse found to be wrong can be pulled from every phone quickly, rather than sitting on people's home screens for the week an App Store review takes.

The request sends nothing about you. There is no identifier in it, no query on the end of the address, and no header of ours. Cookies are refused outright, so nothing can be set on you and read back on the next fetch. Our server sees what any web server sees when a file is requested, and we do not build anything out of it.

If you turn on iCloud sync, it is your iCloud. Your shelf can travel between your own devices through Apple's key-value storage, under your own Apple Account. It does not pass through us and we have no way to read it. There is no server of ours in that path at all.

When the app breaks, we get told. Apple's own MetricKit hands us aggregated figures with nothing in them that identifies a person. Alongside it the app uses Sentry, which sends a report when the app crashes or hangs: the phone model, the iOS version, the app version, and the code that failed. There is no name, no email and no identifier of yours in it, and never any part of what you were reading.

We count which parts of the app get used. The app uses PostHog to record coarse actions, such as a screen being opened or a card being shared. Screen recording is off, automatic capture is off, and no profile of you is built. It never records which quote you read, what you kept, when your reminders are set, or anything you typed. Turn it off in Settings and it stops sending. Both services receive their data on servers in the European Union.

Permissions the app may ask for

• Notifications, only if you set a daily reminder. Used for that reminder and nothing else.
• Saving to your photos, only when you tap to save a card. The app can add a picture and cannot read your library. There is no permission in it for reading photos, because nothing in it ever looks at them.

Decline either one and the rest of the app works exactly as before.

Payment

Gyaan Daily Gold is bought through your App Store account. Apple handles the payment and tells the app whether the purchase is active. We never see your card, your billing address or your name. There is no payment processor of ours in the middle, and no account of yours on our side to attach a purchase to.

Children

The app is not directed at children. It asks nothing about a person, so there is nothing about a child for it to collect. The crash and usage reports above carry no identifier and cannot be traced back to anybody, child or adult.

This website

The site sets no cookies. Fonts, styles and images are served from this domain, so loading a page here does not tell any other company that you visited.

There is no form on it and nothing to type into. The site collects nothing, because there is nowhere on it that could. It is pages, pictures and a link to the App Store.

Your rights

There is no account, so we hold nothing of yours to look up, correct or hand back. The crash and usage reports are anonymous and cannot be traced to a person, which also means we cannot pick yours out of them to delete. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone, and the switch in Settings stops the usage counts before they are sent.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything material will be said plainly rather than folded into a paragraph.
