Gyaan Daily is an iPhone app that shows one quote a day from the classical traditions of India, in Tamil, Hindi, Sanskrit or English, with a note on what the verse is saying and where it came from. It is made by Positiva Films in Mumbai.

Write to tally@positivafilms.com, or use the contact form on the Positiva Films site. A person answers, usually within a couple of days. There is no ticket number and no bot.

Reporting a verse that is wrong

This is the message we most want to receive. If an attribution looks wrong, a translation reads badly, or a note claims something the source does not support, send us the verse and what you think is wrong with it. We can pull a verse from every phone quickly without waiting for an App Store review, so a real error gets acted on the same week.

The daily reminder

Settings, then Reminder. Choose a time and allow notifications when iOS asks. One notification a day, at the time you set, and it opens into the whole quote rather than a grey preview.

If nothing arrives: check iOS Settings, then Notifications, then Gyaan Daily, and make sure they are allowed. A Focus mode or Scheduled Summary can also hold it back until later.

Widgets

Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and find Gyaan Daily. There are four sizes, plus Lock Screen and StandBy.

A widget refreshes on the system's own schedule rather than instantly. If it looks stale for a while, that is iOS budgeting refreshes and it catches up.

Changing language

Settings, then Language. The four catalogues are separate, so switching gives you different verses, not the same verse translated. Nothing on your shelf is lost by switching.

Your shelf

Tap the heart on any quote to keep it. The Library tab holds everything you have kept, and collections let you sort it.

Taking it with you. Settings has an export that writes out everything you have kept, and an import that reads it back. Use it before you change phone, or just to have your own copy.

iCloud. If iCloud is on, your shelf travels between your own devices through your own Apple Account. It never passes through us.

Purchases

Restoring on a new phone: Settings, then Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account the purchase was made on.

Cancelling a subscription: iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Gyaan Daily. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. It cannot be done from inside the app, because Apple does not allow it to be.

Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Tell us as well if something went wrong, and we will help.

The one-time purchase does not renew, so there is nothing to cancel.

Share cards

Tap Share on any quote. Choose a design and the ground behind it, then send it, save it to your photos, or set it as a wallpaper. Saving asks for permission to add a picture to your library. The app cannot read your photos and never asks to.

Something has gone wrong

Force-quit and reopen first, since that clears most of it. If it persists, write to us with your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing. The app version is at the bottom of Settings.
